While the Guess Who did have several hits in America, they were superstars in their home country of Canada during the 1960s and early '70s. They started out as a local Winnipeg band in 1960 called Chad Allan and the Reflections (later changed to Chad Allan & The Expressions). All the band members were born in Winnipeg.
